אֲפִילּוּ בֶּן חָמֵשׁ שָׁנִים וְחוֹרֵשׁ בַּשָּׂדֶה
You slaughtered a ewe and found a lamb inside her — alive, full-term, blinking at you. The Talmud calls it a ben pekuah, and Chullin 74 is its biography. Rabbi Shimon Shezuri says its mother's slaughter covers it even when it is five years old and plowing the field. But is it one animal, or part of another? Shepherd it down the trail — every waypoint is a real question from this daf.

שְׁחִיטַת אִמּוֹ מְטַהַרְתּוֹ
Its mother's slaughter purifies it — the sentence your lamb lived its whole life inside.
The trail walks the mishna of the ben pekuah (74a–b) and every sugya that grows out of it: the hanging limb, Rav Hoshaya's hand in the womb, the blood, the fat and the sciatic nerve, the firstborn donkey, the nut rattling in its shell, and the river before the cemetery. It skips only Rav Ḥisda and Rabba's dispute about the limb of a dead fetus (74a:7) and the eight-month-old's baraita (74a:8–10) — meet them inside.
